PASSCODE , THE DARK DAY is a publication accompanying the first solo exhibition of Chanida Voraphitak at BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY under the same title. In the past years, Voraphitak has developed her art practice across many mediums: canvas, sculpture, video, apparel, and publication.
This book, which takes its form from her long-standing fascination with children’s books, contains a mixture of prose, sketches, elements from her paintings, and components from her VR video installations. Not only does Voraphitak convey her own feelings and experiences regarding today’s urgent contemporary issues, especially pollution, but her prose also discusses how society has developed and explores the relationship between humans and other beings.
